                                                What is Radon ?
Radon is a colorless, odorless, gas created through the decay of
uranium and is believed to be a significant cause of lung cancers. It enters
a house through cracks in the basement floor or is released into a home
through the water coming from a drilled well.

The Environmental Protection Association has devised a two day
screening test, that can show the relative absence of radon (homes that
measure below 4 pCi/l) if the home is measured with all windows closed
for the duration of the test.

The difficulty with a two day test is that variables such as rapidly changing
barometric pressure (storms) and high wind conditions can raise the
radon levels. Since radon exposure is described as
Average Annual
Exposure,
a two day test will identify a home with little or no radon with
more certainty than a two day test will accurately portray the long-term
radon levels in a home with higher, possibly fluctuating  levels.

A longer term test increases the confidence in the accuracy of measuring

Average Annual Exposure.

Testing the air in the lowest living space (or potential living space) will
allow home buyers to assess the risk of
Radon in Air due to basement
entry.

Testing the well water allows home buyers to become educated about the
potential risk of
Radon in Water.
